Ideal Guests
Purpose
Every show needs its star. For At the Backdoor, this means finding a guest who has expertise, cultural sensitivity, fearlessness, and open-mindedness.
For At the Backdoor, we strive to have thoughtful, nuanced conversations around global taboos. That's why the ideal guest is someone who can lend their expertise with grace and understanding.
Guests must have a depth of knowledge around controversial issuesβpeople who can provide context and insight shaped by real in-the-field experience. But expertise alone does not make an ideal guest. Equally important is cultural awareness and sensitivity. We want guests who are compassionate bridge-builders, able to discuss challenging topics frankly yet empathetically.
Guests must also come with open minds, willing to listen and engage with perspectives different from their own. A diversity of views allows us to peel back layers of complexity. But we must do so in a spirit of building mutual understanding across divides. With care, courage, and consideration, we can have dialogues that inform audiences worldwide and affirm our shared humanity.
Procedure
Step 1 - The Guest
Here are some criteria you must follow to find a guest, and part of it is to consider if they fit the ATB brand. Check their social media, how many followers they have, and if theyβre involved in other groups that are related to the values of the show.
In special cases, such as for OTR, when most of the Guests donβt have social media, you can survey an area and gather insight into possible Guests for the show. Interview people, get a good measure of their character, and ask their permission if they want to be shot for a YouTube channel if they fit the standards.
Step 2 - The Schedule
What happens now that the guest is interested in joining the show, we send them an email informing them of the show, their topic, and the date of the shoot.
