HOW TO EDIT FOR ATB

STEP 1: DATA/FILE MANAGEMENT

  • Refer to this link: #Data Management

  • Generate proxies for 4k footage: #Miscellaneous

STEP 2: OFFLINE EDITING

Offline editing refers to the first stage of the editing process, where the goal is to create a ‘draft cut’.

This stage of the editing process uses low-quality footage with which editors can work on determining the sequence of the shots, and the focus is on telling the story rather than polishing.

At this stage, it is important to get the timing of the cuts right, as well as the pacing of the whole video. The reason low-quality footage is used at this stage is that the file sizes of the video clips in full high-definition or 4K quality are massive, and the computer needs to use a lot of power to process these clips every time a change or edit is made to them.

Working with lower-quality files allows the editor to work quicker and reduces the risk of a system crash.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Ask for Interview Guidelines from the producer/writer/editor

  2. Sync proxy footage and audio (use PreEdited video if provided instead)

  3. Edit to sequence : preview >> host intro >> title intro >> main interview >> host outro >> end screen

  4. Mark moments that are suitable for Social Media previews

  5. Adding GFX, SFX, and music:

    1. Use the assets provided in the "Media_Assets” folder or

    2. *Find and use media assets using our Airlist and Envato accounts or other sources.

    3. Use the released episodes on Youtube as reference

    4. For some episodes, special sequences might be required such as B-rolls, a

    5. For info cards like guest info or topic cards, assets can be provided prior, if else not provided, editors can research for assets

    6. Some episodes might require a disclaimer to be shown at the beginning of the video

*accounts are not available for freelancers and interns for now

  6. Episode must be between 10 to 15 minutes long or less. Exceeding this might affect the performance of the episode.

  7. Export project file to Program_Files

STEP 3: ONLINE EDITING

Online editing is a final cut of the project by editing a high quality footage together.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Relink proxies to original footage

  2. Apply final edits, GFX, SFX, and music to the video

  3. Apply audio effects to the dialouge such as but not limited to : voice isolation, multiband equalizer, de-esser, de-hummer

  4. Render video using the following settings:

    1. 1920x1080 or 1920x1038p

    2. 24 or 30 fps

    3. .mp4

  5. Save in the Main Video folder

  6. Filename: n_ATB_episode title_episode guest_version

    1. example: 001_ATB_Shibari Part 1_Rai_v1.mp4

STEP 4: EDITING OTHER DELIVERABLES
